Hard to say. Three tons were donated to the cause and number of bottles per ton varies according to a winemaker’s standards. Some will press the grapes until there is absolutely nothing left, while some only believe in “free run”, meaning they let the juice run freely without any pressing and then discard the grapes, even though there is technically recoverable juice. As few as 500 bottles can be made from 1 ton, but it can be much higher. Let’s say the average is 700. 700 bottles per ton times 3 tons = 2100 bottles at $30/bottle = $63,000 to benefit the endangered Hector’s dolphins of New Zealand.
