How much money is the Japanese whaling industry worth?

In 2007/2008, The Japanese Whaling Industry made $48.8 million (U.S. Dollars) in sales.

However sales decline more each year, failing to meet expectations (planned sales for 2007/2008 were $64.6 million).

The amount of money made from selling whale products has not been sufficient enough to cover costs of hunting and research. The Japanese Whaling Industry has proved to be an unprofitable and wasteful one (they have killed more than 12,000 whales since 1986).
