According to a recent report put out by CNet, Smart Grid spending will reach 200 billion worldwide by 2015.
The US Government has said that it may provide 3.4 billion in stimulus spending to kick-start state-run smart grid projects. Other guess-timates put US spending over 33 billion by 2014.
At least 12 billion was spent worldwide in 2008 to upgrade utilities systems.
According to a recent Reuters article: “Japan, South Korea and China are investing about $9 billion this year in infrastructure and information technology to make electricity networks more efficient, creating lucrative opportunities for niche technology and equipment providers.”
