Estimates place the amount of money they U.S. Government provides to help fossil fuel companies between $78-$158 billion annually. These subsidies come in the form of tax breaks and preferences in addition to national spending on to promote the security of fossil fuels. These subsidies mask the true cost of energy created from fossil fuels and reduce the market for renewable energy.
