The costs for recycling depend on various factors including how often the materials are gathered, the level of participation, and quantity.  The US Environmental Protection Agency provides information for local government on estimate costs depending on a single or multiple stream set out.  For once a week, high diversion, single stream set out, the estimated costs are $54.40 per household per year.
