Including claims made by consumers and businesses along with clean- up costs, BP has lost about $338 million billion and could eventually cost them $25 billion. Their shares have dropped 40% which is also included in the significant costs during the downturn of events. Besides people injured and businesses crumbling due to this incident, another factor that willl not recuperate nearly as rapidly is BP’s reputation.
Note the typo in the other answer – $338 “million billion” should just be million.
In terms of the value of the oil that spewed out and is unusable, if 4.9 million barrels is correct, then the value of that loss at $75 per barrel would be about $368 million.
