Reflective windows can offer significant heating and cooling costs by reducing the amount of energy required to heat or cool off a house. Powerhouse TV, an energy educational program estimates that every 100 feet of reflective window saves one ton of air conditioning usage. The California Energy Commission states the 30% of a building’s heat is absorbed through windows and reflective windows can block 40%-60% of the heat coming through those windows. Generally costs are recouped after two to three years, depending on energy usage, square footage of windows and cost of film.
