According to the Dairy Herd Improvement Association, a good dairy cow (usually Holstein cows) produce, on average, 18 gallons of milk per day.
An average Californian cow has the capacity to produce 2,305 gallons of milk a year, which comes out to be approximately 8 gallons of milk produced each day of the cow’s milking period.
