How much water is lost in American homes and businesses due to leaky pipes and fixtures?

A lot more than you would think. A constantly leaking faucet that drips at a 1/4 inch diameter wastes over 1 million gallons a year of water. So if you have a leaking faucet, fixing it could save you a lot of water and money.
