    It depends on the item you’re recycling. Each material is different, depending on how much energy is required to make it usable again compared to how much energy is required to make it raw. The amount of energy saved by recycling a particular item rather than creating a new one:
    Aluminium – 95%
    Copper – 85%
    Lead – 60%
    Steel – 62 – 74%
    Zinc – 60%
    Some materials are more expensive to recycle than manufacture raw, such as plastic bags, so they usually aren’t recycled at all.
