Once a wind turbine is built and running, it generates no emissions of greenhouse gases or other pollutants. However, the process of manufacturing, transporting, and assembling the turbine parts of course has some carbon footprint, so wind energy is responsible for a certain amount of carbon emissions. That said, burning hard coal for energy produces 836 grams of carbon dioxide for every 8 grams that wind energy is responsible for. Coal power pollutes many, many times more than wind and other renewable energy sources.
