Krill is a very important species to ocean life. This animal, averaging 6 centimeters in length and weighing only 1 gram, is an essential part of many animals’ diets, such as the baleen whale, fish and birds. They swim in swarms that can contain up to 30,0000 krill per cubic meter, or about 10,000 per cubic foot.
