On average 30-60% of freshwater is used on lawns according to Eartheasy. Areas such as American SouthWest and Australia are likely to increase ammount of water during dry months. This is to make up for the same temperate conditions such as in England where the concept of lawns originated. Otherwise the grass would go dormant for several months.
