It has already beginning to happen. As pH levels decrease (ocean acidity goes up) small algae known as Calcidiscus leptoporous has a harder time to create its shell. By the projected pH levels of 2100 these organisms, which make up the basis of the Salmon’s diet will have significant decay of their shells.
