Plain white rice has less “Vitamin E, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Folacin, Potassium, Magnesium, Iron and over dozen other nutrients. Added to that, the dietary fiber contained in white rice is around a quarter of brown rice.”http://www.greenlivingtips.com/articles/94/1/Brown-rice-vs-white-rice.html
It’s also better for the environment!
Whole grain rice, or brown rice, has many health benefits that are lacking in white rice. Firstly, it is rich in manganese (produces energy from protein and is involved in fatty acid synthesis), selenium, and magnesium, and the vitamins within these are lost in the process of making white rice. Phosphorous, iron, and fatty acids are also retained in brown rice, and it is a great source of fiber.
