How much have the emissions in China increased in the past couple of years?

    Based on official UN statistics, China’s greenhouse gas emissions increased from 2,460,744 metric tonnes* in 1990 to 3,405,096 in 2000 and reached approximately 6,538,367 metric tonnes in 2007.

    *A metric tonne is a unit of mass equal to 2,205 lb or one cubic meter of water at 39.2 degrees.
