How much has the U.S. pork industry suffered losses since the outbreak of H1N1, or “swine flu?”

Since fall 2007 (the beginning of the recession), pig farmers have been selling each hog at a loss of $23 dollars, on average. Swine flu almost doubled this to a $43 loss for each hog sold, on average, for each of the 67,000 hog farms in the United States currently.
