How much has Brazil cut back their deforestation?

From August of 2008 to around July of 2009 Brazil cut back on deforestation of rainforests by 45%!  The total acreage came down from 13,000 to 7,000.  This is the biggest recorded drop in more than 20 years and is especially important considering that 2004 was the second biggest year in terms of rainforest deforestation.
