The proposed federal budget for fiscal-year 2011 allocates about one-sixth of the US Department of Energy’s (DOE) $28.4 billion budget for investment in clean energy technologies. An additional $1.8 billion is proposed to be budgeted for research into new ways to produce, store, and use energy. This amounts to a total of approximately $4.7 billion and an increase over the $26.4 billion that was allocated in fiscal-year 2010.
