It is very hard to predict the actual gas usage on highways during the weekday and weekend. It is dependent on a lot of factors such as geography, commute times, population, gas prices, etc. When gas prices are higher, people would like to commute using other transportation such as trains, buses, etc. and gas usage might be more during the weekend. However, in places where public transportation is not a viable option, commute traffic lead to more gas usage in those cities than weekend driving.
