It depends on the car of course, but as an example, the average mpg of the hybrid Accord, Insight, Civic, Escape, and Prius cars is 46 mpg. The average mpg of non-hybrid passenger vehicles is 21 mpg. That means you use less than half of the fuel in those hybrids than you would normally. With the average distance the normal person travels, thats over $10,000 that you would save over 10 years if the gas prices stay around where they are today.
