How much food waste is created in the U.S. daily?

    A University of Arizona study revealed that not only does 40-50% of all harvested food not get consumed, but the average household wastes 14% of their daily food purchases. Mush of this is in the form of unopened expired food and can translate into $590 per year per household and over $43 billion dollars nationally per year.
