How much of an EV could be charged with solar panels on their roof during the day while we are at work?

    One study found that traveling 1 mile at optimal performance will use 300 Wh of electricity from the cars battery bank.  On a bright, sunny day, one, four feet piece of solar panel can generate about 150 Wh after one hour.  To achieve 300 Wh (to drive the estimated mile) two, four feet piece of solar panel would need to be in the sun for one hour.  On average a person would recieve an extra 6-8 miles range from solar panels on an EV.
