Clean up for the spill is by no means complete. It will take years to rectify this situation. It is difficult to quantify how much energy will be required in the end. There have been lots of vehicles used in monitoring and direct clean up including fleets of military skimmers and boats. Large quantities of energy likely went into the making of dispersants and detergents used for clean up and just as much energy will likely be needed to clean them up. Not to mention the energy used in BP’s mad technogical dash to stop the leak.
