How much energy is lost if a home is insulated?

Usually, if a home is insulated, less energy is wasted since the insulation is thick and acts like a barrier, holding the warm air inside the house. Places like garages and attics usually aren’t heated because they aren’t insulated- it would be unwise to heat a place like the garage since all the warm air escapes much easier without insulation. Insulation also acts like a barrier to hold cold air in as well, and that is why when the A/C is turned on inside your home, all the windows should be closed.
