In present time, there are wind turbines that can generate up to 5 watts of energy on a good day. When there is no wind, though, turbines only run at about 30% efficiency.
15 years ago, the American Wind Energy Association produced a study stating that if the entire lands of North and South Dakota were filled with turbines, it would be sufficient enough to power the whole country. (Although logistically, that would be widely inefficient.)
