How much energy can a home wind turbine generate?

Since the average home uses 9,400 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, it would require a wind turbine producing between five and 15 kilowatts. The capacity and production of the wind turbine of course depends on the average wind speed in the home’s area. Residential wind turbines are fairly large, and generally require a property size of at least one acre.
