    This all depends on what and how many upgrades a homeowner makes. For example, compact fluorescent light bulbs use 20-30% of the energy required to power an incadescent bulb. So, just by switching out all the lightbulbs in your home, you could reduce your entire house’s energy consumption by, on average, 7%. That is without touching the washing machine, window insulation, or heating/cooling system.
