How much energy can the earth get from its rivers?

It depends on the amount of water and how far it falls into the turbines of the hydropower dam. This is affected by time of year, with more energy being generated in the winter months when there is more water running in rivers and streams. Different running water systems will create different amount of energy. Mosts scientists agree that hydropower should not be the only source of clean energy, and that we should utilize wind and solar energy, but even if we utilize half the world’s hydropower sources, we got reduce greenhouse gas emissions significantly (by about 1/5).
