How much electricity is used worldwide every day?

About 44.87 billion kilowatt-hours every day. See calculations below.

In 2006, the world’s total net electricity consumption was 16,378.62 billion kilowatt-hours. The previous year, it was 15,758.31 billion kilowatt-hours. Because worldwide electricity consumption continues to increase, I’ll use the 2006 data to find the daily electricity consumption: Divided by 365, this number is 44.87 billion kilowatt-hours per day. Whoah!
