How much of the economy in Alaska is based around the fishing industry?

    Alaska’s economic base is primarily comprised of oil production and federal spending. Commercial fishing, surprisingly, only makes up 5% of the country’s economy. While this is considerably more than most states, it’s surprising considering how much coastland Alaska has.
