Ocean water desalinization is an extremely expensive for of drinking water, costing more than 5 times as much as any other form of purified drinking water. Still a relatively new form of water puriciation, there are still concerns regarding cost and environmental impacts that are being reviewed. At this point there are no cities or countries in the world that depend solely on desalinization for drinking water. However, there are cities that are exploring the potential of adding a desalinization plant to supplement their water supply.
