Typical energy consumption for a refrigerator falls around 1,000 watts per hour. A microwave on the other hand, uses about 1,500 watts, making it one of the most energy using appliances in the household. However, refrigerators end up using more energy because they are constantly used, where as microwaves, although used every day, are one used for a few moments here and there.
