    The average energy bill for a typical single-family household is $2000. This number is based on the average price of electricity being 11.3 cents per kilo-watt hour and the average price of natural gas being $13.29 per million Btu. The greatest expense at 29% of the average bill coming from heating. Cooling and water heating come at 17% and 14% respectively.
