The amount of water the average person drinks every day and the amount of water he/she SHOULD drink are in most cases not the same! It is generally recommended that each person drink 64 oz of water a day, though of course that amount varies with individual, time of year, level of activity, health status, etc. However, water is also contained in many of the foods we eat and also produced in some metabolic processes, so the recommended intake of water is probably much lower. As far as what is actually consumer, the Environmental Protection Agency estimates that the average person drinks 2.0 liters, or 66 oz., per day.
