According to leading environmental organizations like the sierra Club there is a strong link between climate change and red meat. If every American in the US substituted one meal of meat with a vegetarian meal, the CO2 savings would be equivalent to taking 500,000 cars off the road.

Meat production affects various areas of the environment including land, energy, water, and climate. According to a report by the University of Chicago eating a vegetarian diet does more for the environment than driving a hybrid car.
