If you recycle them in California you stand to make about 60 cents (5 cents per bottle).
It depends by locality. In some places you can make as much as 10 cents per bottle, but you already paid a deposit of 20 cents, unless you just collected someone else’s trash.
If you bought the bottles, you already paid a deposit at the register. It usually shows up on your receipt as 5 cents per container. The way to make money is to collect other people’s unwanted bottles, on which they paid the deposit. Stadium tailgates are a gold mine if you don’t mind diving into trash barrels.
