How much CO2 can the earth get rid of in a year?

CO2 is not destroyed.  Rather, it changes forms, and the process occurs naturally through the carbon cycle.  Carbon is transferred from the atmosphere to the biosphere, as well as water bodies.  Trees and phytoplankton account for large amounts of absorbed carbon from the atmosphere.
