About 10 percent of landfill waste every year is from Christmas. The ever changing trends make changing Christmas decor more costly every year, and its easy to avoid adding to the waste. Many Christmas ornaments last a long time if well maintained, but if you want to strive for something different, you can festoon your tree with cranberries and popcorn, make gingerbread man ornaments and hand citrus slices from your tree. You can also decorate your tree with nuts and macaroni. Decorating with natural materials is especially efficient if you have a live tree that can be replanted in a yard to feed the wildlife.
There are also new Christmas lights that last longer and emit less energy, so you wont have to go out and buy new lights as often, and save on your electric bill for the month.
