How much chemicals do photo processing labs produce?

    The chemicals in developer and fixer solutions can be harmful to the environment if not disposed of properly.  Aerosol cans used to process photos can release into the air chemicals like 1-trichloroethane and toluene.  The San Jose/Santa Clara Water Pollution Control Plant published a guide to responsibly managing chemicals used in photoprocessing, with emphasis on avoiding spillage.  See link below.
