How much carbon dioxide does the human element add to the environment?

    Over the last 150 years humans have increased the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere by about 40%. Co2 in the atmosphere rises by about 15 gigatonnes a year while humans emit 26 gigatonnes a year. About 40% of man made Co2 gets absorbed by the earth but the rest is put into the atmosphere.

    According to an Australian climate change site, worldwide carbon emission was 29,888,121 million tons in 2008.
