How much carbon can the rainforest absorb?

    Scientist have calculated that rain-forests absorb almost 5 billion tons of CO2 annually. Which is a huge amount more than the 1.2 billion that they had previously estimated. This calculates to mean that one fifth of all fossil fuel emissions are being absorbed by threatened forests.
