According to several sources, one kilogram (roughly 2.2lbs) of rhino horn can fetch between $50,000 – $60,000. Two years ago, that would have topped the price of a kilogram of gold.

Elephant tusk is substantially less expensive. In 2010, the price was around $100 per kilogram. A full tusk could trade between $17,000 – $18,000.
