Depending on the panel’s technology and how recently it was manufactured, there’s a wide range of energy efficiency – percentage of the incoming sun’s energy that gets converted to electricity. Multiple junction solar cells were shown to push it over 40%; thin film cells can reach almost 20%; crystalline cells can get 25%. However, most of these numbers are from cells that are still being developed in labs; on the market you can expect 12-18%, with the highest at about 23.4%.
