The efficacy of household incandescent lights ranges from 8 – 21 lumens per watt. At small wattages, LEDs range from 4.5 – 150 lumens per watt.
LED bulbs are not available in very high wattages, however. So, for example, to replace the brightness of a 100 W incandescent with LEDs, you might need two or more 5 W LEDs. The energy used by the LEDs combined would still be much less than that used by the incandescent.
