How much ice breaks off from glaciers every year?

The amount of ice that breaks off from glaciers varies from year to year. However, it is increasing as the earth grows warmer and warmer. Entire glaciers have disappeared in the near past. It is postulated that a degree increase of only four degrees celsius will be warm enough to melt all of the world’s glaciers.
