How much bigger would our landfills be if we didn’t recycle?

Only about 1/10 of solid waste is recycled. So, landfills would be 10% larger in the U.S. if we didn’t recycle. However, more waste can be diverted to recycling and composting systems, so we can slow even more the rate at which landfills filled if we recycled more and composted more.
