According to an article written in 2009, by Saidas Gumbelevicius, China is almost tied with the United States in terms of the amount of beef the two countries consume. Between both countries, they consume over a third of the world’s available beef. China’s personal beef consumption has risen dramatically as a result of more Chinese people moving to a more meat-rich diet, that is seen extensively through out the Western world. As Globalization continues to grow, the younger generations in China have looked toward the Western World as influence on their lives. China’s beef consumption has more than doubled in the last ten years and is likely to double again by the next five years. Those are scary thoughts in terms of the continued growth of China’s population today.
