The average lung capacity for a human is between 4-6 liters of air.  This number is dependent on gender, height, weight, age, and various health factors (such as whether one smokes regularly).  A ten year old child would most likely have a lung capacity of about 4 liters, but could be higher or lower depending on the individual person.
