Africa benefits greatly from trophy hunting: it generates “$200 million annually in remote rural areas of Africa in 23 countries.” Several countries accumulate substantial funds derived from hunting, including Botswana, Namibia, and Zambia. In Tanzania, for instance, the hunting revenues are used as follows: 25% to the Tanzanian Wildlife Protection Fund, 25% to the national treasury, and 50% is retained by the reserve itself.
